Halloween Graveyard Dig

We turned our sand tray into a graveyard dig for a little bit of Halloween fun! We had left over red sand from a different activity and added some autumn leaves into the mix.

We made the bones and gravestones out of salt dough a few days before- they need time to dry.
If you don't know how to make Salt-Dough:
1/2 cup of salt
1/2 cup of warm water
1 cup of flour
Mix the salt and flour together -stir in the water adding it slowly (You may not need all of the water. You want the dough to be dry, if it gets sticky add more flour.) Knead the dough and then roll out. They need a few days to dry natural (keep flipping them over) or put them in the oven on a low temp until dry- SIMPLE!
The kids enjoyed looking for the bones as they worked on their small gross motor skills and some of them used their imaginations and pretended that they were dogs digging for bones!!

A great and simple activity to increase the Halloween atmosphere in the classroom or at home!!
